Basketry is a wonderful art - and anyone can turn their hand to it, whether or not they have any experience with willow or weaving of another kind.
The classes i run last for a day, and during that day you will learn to make your own basket from scratch.  The process is quite intense, so i dont set a time limit for these classes as everyone works at a different pace.  The circular base is constructed first, then upright rods are inserted for the sides, different types of weave can then be utilised to create the sides, and the border is then added, with a foot on the base if time dictates.

These classes are really only suitable for teenagers and adults.
For children i facilitate willow classes in Dream Catchers - these are Native American symbols which are simple to weave.  First a willow hoop is created, and into this the 'spider web' is woven, they are then decorated with beads and feathers.  Please contact me if you would like me to come and host a Dream Catcher Workshop - either at your home, they are a great Birthday Party treat, or your local school.
