Undertaken 23/24th Feb 2008 - A beautiful sunny day - a nice easy planting day, ideal weather!!
THE COURSE
Uprights planted through special garden matting to prevent weeds etc, more time consuming to plant, but totally eradicates the maintenance of weed removal... base will be tiled afterwards like a patio

Resolving the top of the dome.... tied with hemp string for extra strength and lashed with slim willow rods as well

Mid way twisted weave to add strength and also to space out acurately the uprights... Julie loves it!!! its her Garden Centre!

Diagonal rods (slimmer in weight) are then added around the arbour

Round windows are created and then lashed onto the structure....

The finishing touches - Juli will be adding to her Willow Garden yearly, so come along in 2009!!! just contact me to book your place in this beautiful location......... spaces limited.....

And everyone makes their own Living Cone to take home and plant....

CAREY'S, WATERVILLE, SOUTH WEST KERRY
This was formerly a family run farm, which is now organised as a sustainable/environmental centre and overlooks the mountains and the sea.  As this centre has only just opened, we will be starting a long term project here and will be creating many different structures as a beginning -
THE COURSE
Undertaken 25th Feb 2008 - amidst hurricane winds and lashing rain!! - if you can plant a structure in this weather you can plant one anywhere anytime!
Two very dedicated willow novices Roberta and Jessie - owners of Careys - get to grips with the mid weave for strengthening the structure - even more important here in Kerry where the wind is pretty constant at this time of year!

And the diagonals go in despite the howling wind and rain!!!

The top is extra strengthened by lashes to prevent the rods whipping out in the strong winds....

Very proudly - Mission Complete - and very very wet workers!!! but very happy!!

Basic Basket Making Courses and Childrens Fun Willow Courses planned for Summer 2008 - contact me for details and dates..... and check out www.visitcareys.com for full information on the Centre
